I have been given thought lately to this aspect and after reaching some interesting conclusions I have decided to share them with you. I know that SEO is very important if you want to have free visitors and also that it is one of the best manners to promote a business these days or to earn money by joining branches like affiliate or Adsense.
The majority considers that delivering well written content is the key to building an influential and successful blog:  and this position will be strengthened by social media promotion and the relations that you would start developing in the blog sphere. When starting blogging, we all try to take our work  to the next level and many follow the directions that I have mentioned but, surprisingly, for some it may work  while for others it may not.
Analyzing  my two years blogging experience I have learned something valuable from the way the blogs from my blog sphere expanded. Indeed,  some of them have evolved, mostly from the hard work that they have put into creating great content and having  strong links with other bloggers. Some of that blogs you may know but I will put them also here as an appreciation  for the great work that they did: Famousbloggers.net, Trafficgenerationcafe.com, weblogbetter.com or basicblogtips.com. The examples could continue but I will limit to these four blogs for the moment. The work invested into building great articles and building relationships with other bloggers was certainly hard but, in the end, it  paid off.
SEO is a great thing but it can be difficult to achieve sometimes and also it requires a lot of work and dedication. Many bloggers earn decent amounts of money by promoting products and affiliate products and SEO  knowledge plays an important role in that. But can you  be successful and have a lot of visitors on your blog only with SEO?  Should you drive all the efforts that you put into social media and building relations with other bloggers into SEO ? Sure, you can do both, if you have time or money to outsource, but I analyze  this through the point of view of a beginner blogger that doesn’t  know much about SEO and has few relations into the blog sphere, not to mention very little money to invest.
What would have happened if I had only done SEO promotion and put the rest in second place?  Most likely,  I would have more visitors and  I would earn more money with my blog. Below, I will try to present you a blog that, in my opinion, was focused mostly on SEO and did a pretty great job.
Joshkotsay.com is one of the blogs that I respect most from this point of view. I know and visit Josh’s blog for a year or so and I have seen how he has evolved along the time. From what I have seen he is focused more on promoting the articles from his blog with SEO then in any other ways. He has a lot of first page keywords and receives a lot of visitors from Google.  As you can see from the picture the traffic and the value of the keywords is quite high and it mostly addresses to US readers. The blog doesn’t have many published articles or guest posts. Josh’s blog concentrates mostly around products and services reviews that are promoted very good through SEO. Josh did a very good job reviewing the products and also promoting them with the help of SEO. He receives a lot of visitors from Google and for sure he earns a decent amount of money from his blog. From my point of view, the results are great and neither of the four blogs, mentioned in the beginning come even close with the SEO traffic or the value of the keywords.
Below are the benefits of having a blog promoted mostly through SEO:
More Money – the sum of money generated by  Google visitors can be quite substantial, especially if you are focusing mostly on product reviews. If you are Pat Flyn from smartpassiveincome.com maybe you can earn more but otherwise I doubt.Can be Easier -  building relations and having a social media presence can be harder then promoting your blog through SEO.High Rankings for New Articles – if your blog is well promoted on Google, as in Josh’s example, it won’t be hard to rank high with new keywords. Because the root domain is trusted by Google it will be easier to rank high with the new articles.
Undoubtedly, a  lot benefits exist but these three are the ones that appear more significant to me now. Also, there could be disadvantages in promoting your blog with SEO, for example: what would happen if Google decided to outrank Josh’s blog ? He would loose all the visitors from Google. With a blog build on social media presence and relations with other bloggers you will avoid this risk plus you will have other great advantages.
What would be great: to promote a blog through social media and links or mostly by using  SEO?  For sure, doing it  both ways is the best, but what happens when you don’t have enough time ?
